China has become the second largest aviation market in the world, but the development of low-cost aviation is slow. As the operating profit margin of the air cargo industry is relatively low, even if only a small part of the controllable cost is reduced, it can also bring considerable performance improvement. Therefore, it is feasible to achieve sustained growth of operating performance through cost reduction.
First, reduce financial and administrative expenses. Airlines are heavy asset enterprises, so the asset liability ratio of airlines is relatively high. A large amount of debt will incur high financial costs.
Second, make good use of the belly compartment of passenger aircraft. Airlines should attach great importance to the operation of the belly compartment of wide body aircraft and strive to increase more revenue. For airlines operating cargo aircraft and passenger aircraft belly compartment at the same time, operating passenger aircraft belly compartment well is the most important step to reduce costs. Since about 60% of the cost in aircraft operation is rigid, the operating cost of the belly compartment of the passenger plane will be far lower than that of the cargo plane.
The third is to standardize the operation process, which is generally considered as a measure to ensure the operation safety and an important measure to reduce the cost. For example, if the vehicles operating on the apron do not operate according to the regulations, the aircraft will need to be repaired and the flight cannot be performed normally. This not only generates aircraft maintenance costs, but also affects the shipment of goods on this flight and disrupts subsequent flight plans.
Fourth, cost reduction - reduce marketing expenses. The customers of air freight are generally enterprises rather than individuals, and the most important of these customers are air freight forwarders and electronic product manufacturers. Compared with air passenger transport, the number of air cargo customers is much smaller, and the frequency and number of transactions between customers and airlines are much larger. Based on the above reasons, the market promotion of air cargo should be based on facing customers directly. Other marketing methods can reduce the cost because they have little impact on the actual marketing effect.
5、 Improve operation efficiency - "scientific management". In the air cargo operation process, there are a lot of links that require manual repetitive labor, such as voucher preparation, security inspection, handling, assembly, transportation, apron loading and unloading, sorting, etc. these links can be decomposed, analyzed, simplified and standardized by scientific management methods. The training is solidified into the work behavior of each staff member, so as to improve labor efficiency, reduce physical consumption and reduce the possibility of injury.
6、 Prudent investment. Cargo aircraft and air cargo terminals are the most important investments of airlines in cargo transportation. Whether it is a cargo plane or an air cargo terminal, a large amount of depreciation costs will be generated every year. At the same time, cargo aircraft operation also needs to bear rigid costs such as fuel costs, takeoff and landing costs. Therefore, prudent investment in cargo aircraft and cargo terminals is of great significance to reduce costs.
